About MacAllisters - The Landing of the Scots
In May 2006, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, the first MacAllisters Grill & Tavern was founded. The Ronney’s thank the loyal band of customers for their patronism since opening, and eagerly look forward to welcoming new customers through the door in the coming years.
Voted one of the top three best new restaurants in 2007.
Just like their Scottish predecessors over 120 years ago, Malcolm & Karen Ronney emigrated from Scotland to Sarasota. They left behind them a very successful business where they had established themselves as highly respected hoteliers and restaurateurs for over seven years. Their historical hotel in Troon, Ayrshire, which included an award winning restaurant, and a bustling bar tavern, won many awards both locally and nationally.
The hotel was built nearly 200 hundred years ago, back in 1812 and was the original meeting place for golfers of Royal Troon Golf Club. The Ronney’s wanted to bring this Scottish golf theme to Lakewood Ranch where they have now opened the doors to a new kind of dining experience with MacAllisters Grill & Tavern.
This exciting new concept is a historical Scottish golf-themed grill & tavern serving a great menu of classic American food with a few Scottish twists to complete the mix. This winning combination of history, golf and the malt whisky trail will create a destination where people will enjoy a complete dining experience.
The Ronney’s are happy with the successful launch of the grill & tavern which saw MacAllisters being acclaimed in the top three Best New Restaurants in Sarasota within the first year of opening. Whether you are popping in after a round of golf for a beer at the bar, or enjoying a meal with the family, you will be sure to “Soak up the spirit of the Scots”.
Their hands on approach has enabled them to ensure the Scottish hospitality, and high standards you expect, are provided at every opportunity. With the winning combination of a warm, welcoming ambiance and a fantastic menu, MacAllisters Grill & Tavern will be renowned as an every day place to visit.
